How to Get Rid of Mental Clutter
Do you have trouble focusing on any one thing at a time? Do you become irritable and grouchy when something doesn’t go the way you thought it would or should? Do you feel “cloudy†like you just can’t concentrate? All these are signs of mental clutter. Let’s get that cleaned up now…
First, ask yourself if you have taken on too much responsibility. Do you find that you have more things to do than what you can complete in one day’s time? Are you expected by others to do certain things, even though you don’t want to do them?
When you take on more than you can handle, your mind zones out. It’s almost like you become a zombie. You’re on autopilot. You merely exist instead of live in your own life. The only way to eradicate this is to start saying no. You can’t do everything on your own. And all of these extra responsibilities only lead to your mind feeling unfocused and cluttered.
Second, ask yourself if you are thinking negative. It is easy to fall into the trap of a pessimistic attitude. Be more aware of your thoughts and apply positive thinking techniques as necessary. Negative thinking can cloud your mind and weigh you down.
Finally, and most importantly, take time out every week to go over your schedule. Did you plan wisely for the week? Or did you end up short on time and not finishing enough because you were too scattered? Pinpoint your trouble areas and make a plan to turn them around.
